Weaknesses
- Magazine ad lead times are usualy longer than for other media such as newspapers.
- National distribution means some single-state advertisiers could be paying for readers who may not be able to access what’s on offer.
Timing
- As a rule, magazine ads tend to be booked two issues ahead of release.
- As a rule, most magazines need their ad material at least one issue in advance of its actual appearance.
- Premium positions such as the outside back or inside front cover are often booked far in advance.
Budget
- Small space ads in specialist magazines can be booked for as little as $200 an issue.
- A full page ad in a major magazine such as The Australian Womens Weekly (with 2.6million readers) starts at around $28,530 (exc GST).
